Mainsails
Sailing should be a pleasant experience, not a battle. It’s time for sailing to give up on heavy cumbersome sails and to embrace modern developments in sailmaking.
Of course, that may mean our Mainsails aren’t for everyone……
Structure
All of our reefing Mainsails utilise a full radial panel layout for the best possible load alignment.
No more cross-cut distortion creases and it also means we can use the appropriate weight sailcloth, saving base weight over a cross-cut equivalent.
Material
Our Mainsails are made solely using sailcloth designed for radial application. We use Contender Pro Radial or Pro Warp-Tech, depending on your intended usage. For dedicated racing sails we use Technora and Carbon laminates or RSQ Polypreg.
Build
Every gram Matters!
Our leech line, reef points, even the way we attach the mast slides, all modified to save weight without sacrificing a single percent of sail longevity.
As Standard
With our ‘Every Gram Matters’ mission to make more user friendly sails, we use tapered Dyneema leech & foot lines, and epoxy battens as standard in all of our Mainsails.
On all reefing Mainsails the following is included as part of our specification….
Full Tri-Radial Panel Layout.
Tapered Dyneema Leech Line
Tapered Dyneema Foot Line
RBS Epoxy Tapered Battens
Draft Stripes
2 Reefing Points
Cunningham Eye
Affordability
Offering a single, comprehensive specification allows us to wildly streamline the build process. It’s also enables us to streamline our ordering and administration process. Essentially if we just offer the best, our cost of transaction becomes incredibly low. Every penny saved is passed back to the sailor. We really are a sailor’s sail loft.
Of course, there is another reason why we don’t offer a huge range of build options, which is that we simply can’t think of a good enough reason to sell an inferior sail.
Design
Our yacht sails are designed in partnership with one of the single most successful championship winning designers over the past 20 years.
We’re one of the only sail lofts in the world who has a designer of that calibre contributing their talent to our yacht sails.
Whilst the cruising world and racing world are different, in essence the goals are the same. To make efficient progress with as little effort as possible.
