Classics
A classical aesthetic blended with modern advantages
Our first ever order at Casca Sails was a boom mainsail cover for a small classic 19ft boat, so we have a lot of affection for seeing tan and cream sails cruising across the bay. We love the romanticism and sense of adventure that embodies classical boats and so we will always have huge enthusiasm for making these sails.
When it comes to our classical sails, we turn the computers off. They’re all made from a traditional analogue pattern with each panel marked and cut by hand, or custom plotted on the loft floor with the seam shaping hand faired. If you look carefully you’ll see our lofting marks and lines on the sail, so you’ll know your sail was made in a manner befitting of your boat.
Build
Double width seams mean zero seam creep and so better shape stability. We also only use Stimpson eyelets as they have a far higher corrosion resistance and strength over standard eyelets.
Material
All of our classic sails are made from Contender Fibrecon Tan or Cream. It’s a world ahead of the other coloured sailcloth options on the market.
It costs more but it truly is a shining example of - ‘you get what you pay for’.
Aesthetic
At Casca Sails, matching Tan/Cream edge tapes are a clear must-have in order to complete the look. Also we always keep our panels between 400-900mm, no wider, as a nod to the traditional narrow panel canvas days of sailmaking.
